FAQ
-
What's it like to work with a dietitian?
Working with a dietitian is a collaborative, personalized experience that centers on understanding one’s unique needs, lived experiences, and goals. We focus on building sustainable habits that honor both physical and emotional health all while aligning with your values. Sessions can include: exploring one’s medical and nutritional status, eating patterns, food beliefs, and the influence of diet culture and anti-fat bias.
-
What is a “non-diet” dietitian?
A non-diet dietitian is a registered dietitian who helps people build a healthier, more peaceful relationship with food and their bodies without dieting, strict rules, or weight-focused goals. We support clients in listening to their bodies, reducing food guilt, and finding enjoyable, sustainable ways of eating that promote overall well-being rather than chasing a specific number on the scale.

Can we still work together if I want to lose weight?
Of course! It’s completely understandable to want to lose weight given the messages we receive from our society about how we “should” look. However, instead of focusing on intentional weight loss as a goal, I will support you in building habits and a relationship with food that help you feel your best physically and emotionally.
-
What should I expect from my first appointment, and how often will we meet?
During our first appointment, we will discuss your concerns, health history, and goals so we can build a personalized plan of care. Visit frequency is individualized - many clients start with weekly sessions and adjust up or down based on their progress and needs.
-
Can I use my insurance for nutritional counseling?
Yes! Many insurance plans cover nutritional counseling. To confirm your specific coverage, you can call your insurance provider and ask about benefits for CPT codes 97802 and 97803 (initial and follow-up nutrition counseling) with a diagnostic code of Z71.3 (dietary counseling and surveillance).
-
Can you collaborate with other members of my care team?
Absolutely! With your permission, I am always happy to connect with other members of your care team (such as therapists, physicians, or specialists) to ensure your care is well-coordinated and supportive of your overall health.
-
Where are appointments located?
Appointments can be held either in person at my Chicago office or online via a secure video platform - whichever best suits your needs.
-
Do you offer sliding scale?
Yes, I offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots for clients who want to work together but would otherwise find the cost inaccessible. These spots are typically reserved for individuals with limited financial resources or those who experience structural barriers or marginalization that impact access to care.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will be charged the full session fee, which cannot be billed to insurance.
